What is the first thing you will do as student body president?

My campaign for President runs on the fact that, unlike the rest of my fellow candidates, I will not be making any promises. Instead, I pledge to bring these qualities that I possess to the table: I am honest, respectful, driven, dependable, committed, and last of all, A LEADER WHO LOVES GILMAN. So, in short, the first thing I would do as President is not to make a fruitless attempt to fulfill some outrageous promise, but instead to continue to prepare to be the best President I can be.

What do you love most about Gilman?

Gilman is a very special place. It has been my home for 12 years now. I have built relationships with students, teachers, and coaches that will last a lifetime. As a 13 year man, those relationships that I have developed depict what Gilman is truly all about. At the end of the day, the point of Gilman isn’t learning how to find the hypotenuse or translate a French sentence, it’s about building yourself from a boy to a man in mind, body, and spirit and preparing you for the world beyond these walls. That is why Gilman is so special to me.

Why should the student body vote for you?

In my belief, I am the candidate best prepared for this position. I have the experience, the drive, and the willingness to stand in a position that means so much to this school. While I am among some fantastic candidates, no one else on the stage has the experience and understanding to be a successful President. Many of them will make some absurd promises, but I promise you that they will never come to fruition. I stand with no promises, but with many possibilities. That’s why you should vote for me.

What makes you different from the other candidates?

I believe I am different than every other candidate in a very important way. I am the only candidate to have ever served on student council. I have been a President and a Vice-President, so I have a very distinct understanding of what it takes to be Student Body President. Where the other candidates have a very blind understanding about what truly goes on as the President, I have a complete understanding, and therefore, am much better prepared to assume the role than anyone else.

What is one movie that you feel describes your life?

At times, Gilman and the high school life can kind of feel like “Groundhog Day”, a movie where the exact daily occurrences of the main character repeat over and over every day. High school can often seem like that. The same thing happening over and over again everyday with no reprieve. My goal, if voted President, is to improve upon the monotony of high school life. We need more FUN. We need more SPIRIT. It is necessary for us to get away from the “Groundhog Day” and add more substance to our lives daily. This way, we can make the high school environment far more fun and exciting.
